1:00PM Speaker Adam Boyce: The Need to Belong: A Genealogical Journey into the World of Lineage Societies. Adam has been a lifelong student of history; specifically, his interest in genealogy began in 1985, inspired and assisted by his paternal aunt, Miriam “Mim” Herwig of Randolph Center, who generously shared her years of historic research with him. Adam’s first lineage society membership was the Vermont Mayflower Society in 2001, followed by the Pilgrim Hopkins Heritage Society in 2006. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he conducted extensive family research on his computer and discovered numerous hereditary societies to which he was eligible to join. To date, Boyce has memberships in forty-six such groups. Through this talk, Adam will share his research, discoveries, and achievements from 2019 to 2022. Although not necessarily a “how-to” guide, Boyce shares sources and general information that will hopefully inspire others interested in researching and proving their connections with American and World history. In addition to his great interest in history, Adam Boyce is a well-known Yankee fiddler, composer, and sugar maker.
